Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Greg Perrault

Dr. Greg Perrault

Veterinarian, Medical Director

Dr. Perrault attended Michigan State University as an undergraduate majoring in microbiology and public health and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science. After an externship in Southern California for avian, exotic, and wildlife medicine, he received his Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.

Dr. Perrault is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), and the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA), and a former member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). Additionally, Dr. Perrault served as a commissioner for the City of Long Beach Health and Human Services Board for 8 years.

Besides operating Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital, Dr. Perrault donates his time and provides first aid for many of Justin Rudd’s events, such as the Halloween Dog Parade.

Dr. Perrault lives in Long Beach with his partner, Cookie Braude, and their Chihuahua, Guillermo.

Dr.-Brianna-Abel
Dr. Brianna Abel

Veterinarian

Dr. Brianna Abel is a traditionally trained veterinarian and a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist by way of the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Florida. She believes in holistic medicine, utilizing both acupuncture and herbs along with Western medicine such as antibiotics and steroids when appropriate.

Dr. Abel grew up in Southern California, went to Long Beach Polytechnic High School, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University and was internship trained at California Animal Hospital in West Los Angeles. She is particularly interested in acupuncture, preventative medicine, and end-of-life care. Dr. Abel lives in Long Beach with her husband, two sons, and three cats (Mango, Rick, and Mochonne). In her free time, she enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, Clippers basketball, and going to the
theater.

Dr.-Shirley-Truong
Dr. Shirley Truong

Veterinarian

Dr. Truong is a Southern California native whose parents immigrated from Vietnam in the mid-1970s. She is the youngest of three children and had a fascination with animals since she was a little girl. Her childhood was filled with pets of all sorts such as dogs, cats, rabbits, an iguana, tortoises, and various birds, just to name a few!

Dr. Truong completed her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences. She also completed a small animal clinical internship at Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Irvine. Her professional interests include internal medicine and surgery.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Truong enjoys meditating, tending to her plants, and eating different types of cuisine with friends and family. She is the proud mother to two American Bullies.

Dr. Julia Drury
Dr. Julia Drury

Veterinarian

Dr. Drury received her bachelor’s at Dartmouth College with a degree in biology modified with environmental studies. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at Cornell University.

She has been practicing veterinary medicine in Southern California since 2013. She is devoted to fostering a strong human-animal bond. She is particularly drawn to supporting her patients and their families through all life stages, including geriatric and end-of-life care.

Dr. Drury grew up in Buffalo, New York. She has lived in Long Beach for the past decade. When she is not at work she is chasing around her two children, two dogs, and one cat. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, cheering on Buffalo sports teams, and scouting out the best chocolate chip cookies.

Dr. Jennifer Wammock
Dr. Jennifer Wammock

Veterinarian

Dr. Wammock grew up in Bakersfield and attended U.C. Davis. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology and was awarded magna cum laude. She went on to graduate with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2007. She looks forward to creating lifelong relationships with both her clients and their animals. Her interests include preventative medicine and infectious diseases.

When she is not caring for our furry family members, Dr. Wammock enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and gardening. Most importantly, she loves binge-watching movies/television with her two cats, Jenny and Binky.

Denise

Registered Veterinary Technician Manager

Denise started her career in veterinary medicine as a kennel attendant. A fast learner and dedicated worker, Denise quickly moved up the ranks and was promoted to technician. She has worked with all types of animals including birds, reptiles, and, of course, cats and dogs. In 2007, she received her RVT license.

She joined the Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital family in 2009 and quickly became one of our most trusted technicians. In 2021 she accepted the responsibility of Technician Manager. She is a natural leader and our team is thriving under her supervision.

In her free time, you can find her on the trail with her horse Kirin, followed by her dogs Rowdy and Wyatt.

Linda
Linda

Registered Veterinary Technician

Some of you know Linda as “the cat whisperer” because she can calm even the wildest kitties. Linda graduated from Pierce College of Los Angeles and became an RVT in 2000. She has worked with Dr. Perrault since before he purchased Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital and they had such a fond respect for each other, that she joined him on his adventure of becoming a veterinary practice owner. The most gratifying part of her job is cleaning teeth. There is nothing Linda enjoys more than to see a cat or dog’s mouth go from being completely full of tartar, cavities, bad breath, and pain to pearly white teeth, fresh breath, and being pain-free!

Kim

Registered Veterinary Technician

Kim started her veterinary adventure as a tech assistant in 1993. Throughout the years, she has gained an abundance of knowledge working with a wide variety of furry, scaled, and feathered friends in general practice as well as Internal medicine and critical care. In 2010, she received her RVT license. Her compassion and extensive knowledge of the veterinary field make her an asset to our team and our community.

Melissa
Melissa

Registered Veterinary Technician

Melissa graduated from Professional Veterinary Assistant School in 2008 and received her RVT license in 2012. She has worked in the field for 10+ years, including at a specialty surgical center for six years. In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her two cats Gillian and Sally, her dog Minerva, gardening, and cheering on the Steelers.

Megan

Registered Veterinary Technician

Megan is a local girl, born and raised in Long Beach, CA. She graduated in 2015 from Carrington Pomona with her AA in Veterinary Technology and her RVT license. She has worked with local general practitioners, as well as Internal Medicine specialists in LA. While in LA she developed a passion for internal medicine. She decided to join our team at Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital in 2024. She is excited to build a relationship with the pet parents from her home community. Megan cares deeply about fear-free animal handling, anesthesia monitoring, and client education.

In her free time she loves to cook, host dinner parties, thrift, and snuggle with her dog (Butters) and three cats (Sesame, Bojee, and Tajin).

Clarisa

Technician Assistant

Clarisa is currently a student at Mt. San Antonio College working on becoming an RVT. She has a unique ability to calm the nerves of a scared fur baby and help them understand that she means no harm. She has loved animals since the day she was born and will continue to love and give them the best care for the rest of her life!

Veterinary Practice Manager

Bonnie joined our team in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital family. We were her first move into the field of animal medicine, which has fascinated her since day one. She loves observing our medical teams at work and admiring their wealth of experience and knowledge. Bonnie takes pride in her ability to see the best in people and if necessary, help them to see it in themselves. She loves encouraging others to believe in themselves and to bring their best selves into the day. She also loves solving a difficult puzzle and finding solutions to tricky situations. Those interests and skills have made her a great leader for our team. She works hard to make sure we are all able to provide the best quality of care to your fur babies. When she is not cheering us on, she can be found snorkeling at a local beach, camping in the California wilderness, or gardening all under the careful supervision of her trusted side- kick, Ducky.

Client Service Representative

Roe moved to California in 2011. After 10 years in the insurance industry, she decided to make a career change. She is grateful to have joined the team at Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital. She brought a wealth of customer service skills with her and has loved learning about veterinary medicine from our experienced crew. She especially is loving spending her days surrounded by precious fur babies and great people. Roe and her husband Steven have three cats: Topaz, Jasper, and Benny.

Client Service Representative

Originally from Alaska, Alex moved to California in 2008 and is happy with the constant sunshine. She has been living in Long Beach since 2016. She loves working at Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital among fellow animal lovers. Her coworkers love the rapid speed and enthusiasm with which she tackles the tasks of the day. Her energy is electric and impressive. On her off time, she sails into the sunset off the coast of Long Beach. She enjoys taking her bearded dragon and her cat to the park to allow them to enjoy the outdoors. She also enjoys making natural skincare products.

Client Service Representative

Ingrid has loved animals since the first stray cat she brought home to her parents when she was 7 years old. She has worked many different jobs and has always volunteered with animal rescue and rehabilitation groups on the side, to foster that love. In 2019, she took the relationship to the next level and started her veterinary career. We hope you will benefit from her humor, wit, and love for all furry creatures as much as we have since she joined our team. In her free time, she loves hanging out with her family, riding Vespas, and playing with her baby boy, Brutus the pug.

Amy started her career in veterinary medicine in 2002 in an exotics practice. She then moved to a specialty surgical practice where she spent the next 15 years. After taking several years off to care for a family member, she returned to veterinary medicine. We feel very fortunate that she joined our team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, camping on the beach, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Client Service Representative

Genesis has worked in the veterinary medicine field since 2019. She is a pre-nursing student with a goal to become an O.R. nurse to assist people during their most critical times. She has a large fur family (Ace, Donnie, Thor, Benny, and Polo) that keeps her busy and active every day. She is grateful they are always by her side. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new coffee shops, trying new food, walking the beach at sunset, and going to the gym.

Inventory Coordinator

A lifelong animal lover, Patty came to Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital in 2016 after a relocation to Long Beach. She has been a dog trainer since 2003 and spent 10 years training guide dogs for the visually impaired. Patty is dubbed Snow White by her family and friends for the menagerie of animals that she befriends, but her favorites are her dogs, Chicharrón and Otis, her kitty, Ginger, her parakeet, Julio, and her goldfish, Dodger.

Hospital Caretaker

Travis has been an invaluable member of the Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital team since 2005! He helps keep the hospital sparkling! In his spare time, he is an avid bowler and recent Southern California Special Olympics Bowling Gold Medalist with a high score of 176. As a kennel attendant, his favorite aspect of the job is the relationships he gets to form with all of our patients and their human counterparts. He is always there to lend a helping hand.

Quality Control/Squirrel Patrol/Good Boy

Rowdy has been a supervisor at Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital for 10 years. He runs a tight ship and expects the best of us all. Although his judgments are not always fair and level as his approval can easily be bought with treats, we feel we are a better team under his tutelage.
